LTFRB didinggin ang petisyon ng transport groups

ITINAKDA ng Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) sa September 26 ang pagdinig ng petisyon na inihain ng transport groups para sa P5 na taas pasahe bilang minimum fare.

Kasama sa didinggin sa petisyon ang provisional adjustment na P1 sa gitna ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng produktong krudo sa merkado.

Sinabi ni Melencio Vargas, president ng Alliance of Transport Operators and Driver’s Association of the Philippines (ALTODAP), sa isang radio interview na ang mga jeepney drivers ay hindi na nakakayanan ang sunod-sunod na pagtaas ng diesel kasama na ang ginawang pagtaas kahapon.

Kahapon ay nagtaas ang mga kumpanya ng langis ng P.30 hanggang P.60 kada litro ng diesel, P.10 hanggang P.40 naman sa gasoline at P.20 hanggang P.50 sa kerosene.

“We filed a petition pushing for a fare hike and will be heard on September 26. We are saddened by the unabated increase in the diesel prices and yet the minimum fare is still the same. Drivers are no longer earning. Drivers are just forced to continue operating as we have no other source of income to feed our family,” wika ni Vargas.

Maliban sa ALTODAP, humingi rin ng P5 na pagtaas ang grupong Pasang Masda and Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations. Kapag pinayagan ng LTFRB, ang sa ngayon na P12 minimum rate ay aabot na ng P17 sa unang apat na kilometro.

Samantala, ayon pa rin kay Vargas na ang mga drivers ay dapat mabigyan ng benepisyo sa ilalim ng fuel subsidy ng pamahalaan matapos na magbigay ng pondo ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ng P3 billion ang nasabing programa. Inaasahan na mabibigyan ng benepisyo ang 1.36 million na mga public utility vehicle drivers at operators sa buong bansa.

“If the fuel subsidy should be implemented, it should benefit all. During the previous administration, many of jeepney drivers did not receive the assistance. Operators should give the money to the drivers after claiming the assistance,” dagdag ni Vargas.

Nagbigay ng suhistyon si Vargas na dapat ang LTFRB ay nagtatago ng mga data base ng drivers upang masiguro na ang lahat ay mabibigyan ng benepisyo sa nasabing programa.

Tatanggap na pinakamataas na fuel subsidy ang drivers ng modernized public utility jeepney at modernized utility vehicle express na nagkakahalaga ng P10,000 kada unit.

Habang ang mga drivers ng traditional public utility jeepneys at utility vehicle express kasama rin ang public utility buses, mini-buses, taxis, shuttle service, taxis, transport network vehicle services, tourist at school transport services at filcabs ng P6,500 bawat isa.

Ang drivers ng mga delivery services ay tatangap ng P1,200 habang ang tricycle drivers ay makatatangap ng P1,000

“Based on a master list of eligible beneficiaries, the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) will distribute the subsidies through the identified modes of payment, upon receipt of instructions from us on the procedures, mechanics and the agreed schedule,” saad ng LTFRB.  LASACMAR
