Ito ang naging paalala ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa LGUs kasabay ng naging panawagan ni DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. sa mga  LGU officials “to exercise due prudence and comply with budgetary, procurement, and auditing laws as well as other regulations and standards.”

Para sa DILG,  kinukunsiderang luxury vehicles ang mga “cars (sedan o hatchback) with an engine displacement exceeding 2,500 cc if gasoline-fed or 3,500 cc if diesel-fed and/or with an engine exceeding four cylinders; passenger vans or pick-up type vehicles with an engine displacement exceeding 2,500 cc if gasoline-fed or 3,000 cc if diesel-fed and/or with an engine exceeding four cylinders; multipurpose vehicles and vans with an engine displacement exceeding 2,500 cc if gasoline-fed or 2,800 cc if diesel-fed and/or with an engine exceeding four cylinders;

at  ang “sports utility vehicles with an engine displacement exceeding 2,700 cc if gasoline-fed or 3,000 cc if diesel-fed and/or with an engine exceeding four cylinders.”

Sinabi ni Abalos na kung bibili man ang LGUs ng sasakyan ay dapat na ” in the most efficient and economic manner considering that these are cost-effective, fuel-efficient, environment-friendly, and at par with improvements and developments in the automotive industry and relevant technology.” (Daris Jose)
