Digital martial law sa pagpapasara ng SEC sa Rappler

KINONDENA ni Assistant Minority Leader at ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro ang ginawang pagpapasara ng Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sa Rappler.

“We are now in digital martial law as the government continues to target the press, censor and control the information available to the public with the shut down of ABS-CBN, the blocking of websites of progressive organizations and independent media and now with the SEC order to close online news organization Rappler,” ani Castro.

Isang araw na lamang aniya ang natitira sa administrasyong Duterte ay patuloy pa rin umano ang pag-atake press freedom.

“Takot na takot sa katotohanan at tamang impormasyon ang administrasyong Duterte at Marcos. Hindi pa nga nakakaupo sa pwesto ang paparating na administrasyon, labis na ang atake na ginagawa nito laban sa ating kasaysayan at press freedom,” dagdag ni Castro.

Ang pag-atake sa pamamahayag ay isa na naman umanong pagtatangka ng para mabaluktot umano ang historical truths ukol sa kasalanan ng pamahalaan sa sambayanan.

Tinuligsa din ni Ariel Casilao, Anakpawis Party-list National President, ang shutdown order laban sa Rappler base sa isyu ng foreign ownership.

“The Duterte regime is averse to press freedom akin its outright hostility against human rights. Established na this is all under Duterte’s tab, given na inamin niya recently na ginamit niya ang presidential powers laban sa ABS-CBN. Wala ring kwestyong ang harassment sa Rappler ay order ni Duterte.  This is not a trait of a president, but of a tyrant or warlord like during the Marcos dictatorship,” ani Casilao.

Dagdag pa ni Casilao, halos lahat ng basic freedom ay inaatake tulad umano ng right to life ng extrajudicial killings, right to due process ng illegal arrest at trumped up charges, right to safety ng red-tagging at militarization, right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, harassment sa mga aktibista, kritiko at oposisyon.

“Malinaw na ina-undermine ng Duterte regime ang democratic way of life ng mamamayang Pilipino at reminiscent ito ng Marcos dictatorship,” ani Casilao. (Ara Romero)
