PDu30, tikom pa rin ang bibig ukol sa term extension ni Carlos- DILG chief

HANGGANG ngayon ay wala pa ring sinasabi si Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte hinggil sa posibleng term extension ni Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos na nakatakdang magretiro sa Mayo 8.

“There is no guidance from PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte). So far, Gen. Carlos will retire as scheduled,” ayon kay Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año.

Si Carlos, pumalit kay Senate aspirant at dating PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar noong Nobyembre ay nakatakdang magretiro sa Mayo 8, kapag naabot na nito ang mandatory age ng retirement na 56.

Ang petsa ng retirement age ay araw bago idaos ang national at local elections.

At sa tanong kung irerekomenda nito ang ekstensyon ng panunungkulan ni Carlos, sinabi ni Año na ia-assess niya at hihintayin ang magiging kautusan ng Pangulo.

“He has two options. PRRD can say ‘okay I’ll extend you (Carlos) up to June 30. Or he can appoint an OIC (officer-in-charge) up to June 30 so that the new president will be the one to appoint (bagong PNP chief),” dagdag na pahayag nito.

“But more likely, the President does not want any extension ( termino ng PNP chief ) to avoid any issue,” ayon sa Kalihim.

Kung nais ni Pangulong Duterte na i-extend ang termino ni Carlos, sinabi ni Año na isusumite niya ngayong linggo sa Pangulo ang listahan ng police officials na papalit kay Carlos.

Kabilang sa mga opisyal na papalit kay Carlos ay sina Lt. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, PNP’s No. 2 man bilang deputy chief for administration; at Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao, PNP’s No. 4 man bilang hepe ng PNP Directorial Staff.

Ang PNP’s No. 3 man, PNP deputy chief for operations Lt. Gen. Ferdinand Divina, ay nakatakda namang magretiro sa Mayo 2 o anim na araw bago ang scheduled retirement ni Carlos.  (Daris Jose)
