Quarantine violators mahaharap sa civil, criminal charges- Malakanyang

PAPATAWAN ng pamahalaan ng kaparusahan ang mga quarantine violators at ipapataw ang “fullest extent of the law.”

Ang pahayag na ito ng Malakanyang ay matapos na laktawan ng Filipino traveler mula Estados Unidos ang sumailalim sa isolation para lamang makadalo sa isang party.

Ang biyahero ay nakilala sa pangalang Gwyneth Chua na dumating sa Pilipinas noong Disyembre 22, at napaulat na dumalo sa isang party noong Disyembre 23, ayon sa Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Isinailalim sa Covid -19 test at nagpositibo sa Covid 19 noong Disyembre 27, at inilipat sa iba’t ibang isolation facility noong Disyembre 29.

Nananatili naman itong nasa ilalim ng isolation, ayon kay acting presidential spokesperson at Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

“Because of what happened number 1 we will ensure that whatever applicable laws will be enforced and whoever can be prosecuted we will prosecute,” ayon kay Nograles.

“And it’s not just civil cases to be filed but talagang (really) criminal charges will be filed against those responsible, whether it’s the violator or the establishment. We will do what is necessary to serve as an example to all,” anito.

Nagsasagawa na ng imbestigasyon ang Philippine National Police.

“There are already admissions I think by the lady herself and even by the hotel. Evidence gathering na ‘yan and then sasampahan na ‘yan ng kaso,” aniya pa rin.

“Ayokong pangunahan so hayaan muna natin ang evidence gathering ng ating mga kapulisan at CIDG (PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group),” ayon kay Nograles.

Iyon aniyang mga mapapatunayang lumabag sa COVID-19 health protocols ay maprurusahan sa ilalim ng Republic Act 11332, o “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.”

Sa ilalim ng batas, ang mga mapatutunayang lumabag sa COVID-19 health protocols ay pagmumultahin ng P50,000, o mahaharap sa pagkakulong ng hanggang anim na buwan.

“It would be up to the judge whether the quarantine violator would face a fine or imprisonment,” ayon kay Nograles. (Daris Jose)
