8 Chinese na minero, inaresto sa Masbate

INARESTO ng mga ahente ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang siyam na Chinese national sa isang operasyon laban sa illegal na pagmimina sa Aroroy, Masbate.

Ayon kay BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. ang operasyon ay isinagawa ng pinagsanib na puwersa ng BI Regional Intelligence Operations Unit 5 (RIOU5), Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Army, the Philippine Navy, Philippine National Police, Masbate Provincial Police Office.

Ang grupo ay inaresto sa dalawang hiwalay na lugar sa Barangay Cabangcalan at Barangay Pangle. Kung saan ay naaktuhan silang nagtatrabaho sa minahan na walang kaukulang permits at visas habang ang iba ay mga overstaying na.

Kasunod ng kanilang pagkakaaresto ay dinala sila sa Manila para sa booking at kasalukuyang nakakulong sa BI Facility sa Taguig City at sasailalim sadeportation facilities.

“Illegal mining not only undermines our immigration and labor policies but also threatens the environment and the livelihood of local communities,” ayon kay BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.
