IN a momentous celebration of Filipino cinema, TBA Studios brought together the iconic cast members of the Bayaniverse cinematic trilogy for a historic class photo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the groundbreaking biopic “Heneral Luna”.
Shot by acclaimed photographer Artu Nepomuceno at the Gateway Cineplex 18 in Quezon City, the Bayaniverse class photo imagines the lead stars from 2015’s “Heneral Luna,” 2018’s “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” and the upcoming historical biopic “Quezon” as moviegoers enjoying a film on the big screen, a fitting tribute to a film series that has helped shape cultural and cinematic conversation in the country for the last ten years.
The photo shoot also commemorates the theatrical release of “Heneral Luna” ten years ago. The historical war epic opened in theaters on September 9, 2015. It has since become the highest-grossing Philippine historical film of all time and jump-started the Bayaniverse cinematic trilogy.
More than just a historic photo shoot with the stars of TBA Studios’ historical film series, the Bayaniverse class photo is part of a larger call to action to remind the public of the beauty of watching movies in theaters and the immense hard work and creative labor that goes into making quality films, said Daphne O. Chiu-Soon, President and COO of TBA Studios.
“We assembled the stars of our historical films ‘Heneral Luna,’ ‘Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,’ and ‘Quezon’ to celebrate the shared experience of cinema and the electricity of a live audience.”
Chiu-Soon added: “This photo shoot fittingly encapsulates TBA Studios’ love for and commitment to Philippine cinema as we celebrate ‘Heneral Luna’ and the 10 years since it came out in theaters. It also signals our excitement as we await the release of ‘Quezon’ in Philippine cinemas on October 15.”

And so begins A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, a whimsical and heartwarming new film that takes David, along with Sarah (Margot Robbie), a woman he just met at a wedding, on a ride neither of them expected.
Director Kogonada didn’t just want actors—he wanted theatricality. That’s why he cast Waller-Bridge and Kline, both celebrated veterans of the stage and screen, to bring a special kind of sparkle to their roles.
“Phoebe and Kevin are from the theater, and that scene called for a certain kind of theatricality and playfulness that for me was central to this story,” Kogonada says.
And it shows. The brief yet unforgettable sequence with the two delivers a jolt of energy, humor, and curiosity that sets the tone for everything that follows.
Seth Reiss, the film’s writer (best known for The Menu), recalls being captivated just watching the scene come to life.
“It was such a joy to look at the monitor when they were filming this scene and see Phoebe and Kevin sitting behind a desk, having a blast, and Colin having a blast with them,” says Reiss. “They created a great and surprising dynamic.”
Their chemistry? Instant. Their comedic timing? Impeccable. The result? A small but mighty moment that ripples across the entire film.
This isn’t just any GPS system. It’s quirky, it’s retro, and it’s central to the film’s journey—literally and metaphorically. When David turns it on, it asks a single question:
“Do you want to go on a big bold beautiful journey?” “There’s something playful about this device,” Kogonada explains. “We had the GPS designed to resemble a Nintendo game controller and HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey. The GPS is helping them navigate the world both geographically and existentially in order for them to move forward romantically.”
The GPS becomes both a plot device and a metaphor. It doesn’t just guide—it nudges, challenges, and inspires.
According to producer Bradley Thomas, the Waller-Bridge-Kline duo does more than deliver laughs—they’re the film’s unexpected spark plugs.
“Phoebe’s and Kevin’s roles are pivotal,” says Thomas. “They’re the first characters David meets, and they propel him on this adventure. When Phoebe and Kevin show up, you just know you’re in for something smart and fun.”
And isn’t that exactly what we want from a story called A Big Bold Beautiful Journey?
Now showing in PH cinemas, distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

But let us be clear: the return of funds does not erase the fact that such a diversion was unconstitutional and a blatant attack on the people’s right to health. Labor unions and civil society urge the Supreme Court to act with urgency on our pending petitions—not only on the diversion of PhilHealth funds, but also on the zero subsidy to PhilHealth in the 2025 budget, which would further dismantle the people’s access to affordable and quality health services.
We remind the government that the Constitution, the Universal Health Care Act, and the Sin Tax Law all obligate the State to ensure sustained funding for PhilHealth. To starve PhilHealth of resources, or worse, to raid its funds for unrelated fiscal purposes, is to trample on the rights of workers, the poor, and the most marginalized sectors who depend on PhilHealth in times of sickness and crisis.
For labor, PhilHealth funds are not government savings, not a fiscal cushion, and not for political convenience. They are workers’ contributions and people’s lifeline. These must be safeguarded and used solely to cover hospitalization, treatment, and preventive care. We demand ironclad guarantees that this illegal and unjust transfer will never happen again, and that public officials responsible for this brazen act are held accountable.
We call on government: put the people’s health over profit, workers’ rights over austerity, and accountability over impunity. The health of the nation cannot, and must not, be sacrificed for fiscal tricks.
PhilHealth is for the people. Hands off our health funds.
