Posted on: February 23rd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Isa po ‘yun sa iniingatan ko lagi na ‘yung roles when it comes sa pagtanggap ko ng iba’t ibang klase ng character, hindi magiging masama or degrading for me and for them (people with dwarfism),” sey ni Jo sa “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.’

“Kailangan ‘yung reputation namin is always pinapangalagaan in a way na makikita nila na–siyempre, hindi naman tayo perfect, pero hangga’t maaari eh sana ‘yung makikita is magandang impluwensiya for us.

“Of course, Millennials, that’s the style today. I can’t say na hindi maganda ‘yon, kasi ‘yan ang uso eh. Sana bumalik lang a portion. All I’m asking is a portion ng mabibigat na awitin na mas hugot,” sey ng OPM singer.

Kailangan ‘yung intonation, ibig sabihin nasa tono. Ngayon, ‘yung kanyang star quality, it’s only a bonus.

“There is phrasing, there is breathing, there is intonation, there is style. Maraming style kasi eh.

You cannot express this unless you’ve experienced it,” sey ni Renz na pinasikat noon ang mga OPM hits na “Remember Me,” “Ibang-Iba Ka Na,” “Mahal Kita,” at “Keep On Loving You.”

Valenzuela LGU, Ford motors nagsagawa ng libreng driving training

Posted on: February 23rd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

(Richard Mesa)

From Risk to Resilience: Understanding and Taking Control of Dyslipidemia

Posted on: February 23rd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

In celebration of the Heart Month of February, healthcare company Organon Philippines is spearheading the “Heart 2 Heart Talk on Optimal Cholesterol Control,” focused on raising public awareness about effectively managing Dyslipidemia and how Filipinos can protect their heart from the long-term impacts of high cholesterol levels.

Renowned lipid experts Dr. Pipin Kojodjojo, a cardiologist and electrophysiologist from Singapore, and Dr. Louella Santos, the current President of the Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society (PLAS), are leading the event to highlight critical research and practical tips to better control cholesterol and minimize the risks of heart diseases.

Dyslipidemia refers to abnormal, unhealthy levels of cholesterol in the body. When too much bad cholesterol circulates in the blood, it causes build-ups of fatty plaques along the walls of your arteries, which can clog and disrupt the normal blood flow to the heart.

If left unchecked, this could lead to debilitating and fatal conditions such as heart disease, heart attack, stroke, and other severe complications.

Recent statistics from PSA have shown that heart disease accounts for 124,182 cases or more than 18% of all deaths across the country, claiming more lives than any other illness.

Alarmingly, the data reveals millions of Filipinos as early as 20 years old are unknowingly suffering from high cholesterol levels, which puts them at even greater risk for developing heart disease.

According to the 8th National Nutrition Survey, 1 out of every 2 Filipinos have borderline high cholesterol levels, making Dyslipidemia a hidden public health threat in young adults and people who are at the height of their careers.

Who stands vulnerable?

Chronic stress and poor lifestyle habits like smoking, unhealthy diet choices, and inactivity increase harmful cholesterol levels even in people in their 20s and 30s. And because Dyslipidemia shows no clear symptoms at first, many young adults remain unaware of the silent damage accumulating in their arteries over time.

Regardless of age or family history, getting a complete cholesterol test is critical to optimizing health and catching high cholesterol early. Addressing cholesterol now, not later, gives you the power to prevent heart disease and irreversible damage to your arteries.

Restoring control over your health Patients can help lower their lipid levels with lifestyle changes, medications, or a combination of both. In certain cases, a health care provider will recommend a trial of lifestyle changes before recommending a medication. The best approach will depend on an individual’s situation, including your lipid levels, health conditions, risk factors, medications, and lifestyle.

Although a healthy lifestyle is the first defense against high cholesterol, sometimes diet and exercise aren’t enough. Patients might also need to take cholesterol medications to help:

·       Decrease ones low-density lipoprotein (LDLcholesterol, the “bad” cholesterol that increases the risk of heart disease

·       Decrease ones triglycerides, a type of fat in the blood that also increases the risk of heart disease

·       Increase ones high-density lipoprotein (HDLcholesterol, the “good” cholesterol that offers protection from heart disease

Healthcare professionals might suggest a single drug or a combination of cholesterol medications. Cholesterol lowering drugs include Statins, cholesterol absorption inhibitor, PCSK9 inhibitors, among others.

Remember: Every case of heart disease is different. Talk to your doctor to get the treatment and care you deserve. Staying faithful to your medication routine could save you and help you live a more fulfilling life free from complications.

This health forum highlights Organon Philippines’s steadfast commitment to educating the public about the dangers of Dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases. Organon aims to drive positive health actions that can elevate care for millions of patients nationwide.

That’s why health professionals like herself stand by a simple motto when it comes to LDL-C (or bad cholesterol) level management—the lower, the better.  Dr. Santos is joined by Dr. Pipin Kojodjojo, a renowned cardiologist from Singapore.

Here’s everything you need to know before watching “Dune: Part Two” on February 28

Posted on: February 22nd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

Haven’t gotten around to watching the first Dune? Warner Bros. has just released a “catch-up video” to get you up to speed before watching Dune: Part Two, the highly anticipated big-screen, epic adventure of the year.

Catch up in under two minutes here: https://youtu.be/74MYxtaZN6U

Tickets to Dune: Part Two are also available now. Don’t miss out as the action and adventure get more intense, with brand new characters joining the fight.  Get your tickets here at the official online ticketing site: www.dune2.com.ph

Dune: Part Two picks up right when the first movie ended, and for Timothée Chalamet, who plays the main character Paul Atreides, going back into the expansive world was a dream. “It was a dream to return to the world of ‘Dune,’ not only returning to castmates I had a beautiful working  experience with the first time, but also getting to see their characters expand, like Chani. And getting to  work with new, super-talented actors, like Austin Butler, and Florence Pugh, who I’d done a film with  before. And of course getting to see Denis bring his full vision to life,” Chalamet says.

Zendaya, who plays the Fremen warrior Chani, also felt the scale and excitement of continuing the journey of Dune. “I only had a few days of filming on ‘Dune,’ so I was excited to come back and have a chance to explore so  much more of Chani. Filming ‘Dune: Part Two’ absolutely surpassed any kind of dream I could’ve ever  had. Being on those sets, with those incredibly talented people in every department… I was in awe.”

New characters join the fight for Arrakis as Austin Butler and Florence Pugh, playing Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Princess Irulan, respectively, round out the cast of Dune: Part Two. Butler, having read the novel as a teen, is a massive fan of the first film.  “The first time I watched it I had the same feelings I felt when I saw ‘Apocalypse Now’ for the first time. I  knew right then that I wanted to be a part of the next one. So, I feel very fortunate,” Butler says. Pugh also shares her experience in becoming part of the film. “It was quite possibly the most thrilling welcome to a world I think I have ever experienced, and probably  ever will experience,” she says, talking about how much she wanted to get involved with the film. “If Denis told me I could be Spear Carrier #3, I’d have said yes, just to experience the entire beast of this movie. Joining the cast as epic as this is always something that you want to get involved with.”

Continue the epic journey as Dune: Part Two arrives in Philippine cinemas on February 28.

Post ni Jaya sa kanyang IG, “On a ride from Sacramento, California, on the way to Graton Casino to see my friends and watch Regine V’s concert…when all of a sudden we get into a car collision. My friend Dr. Josephine Weber was driving and with us was Auntie Merly Escolta (her cousin) when suddenly we get hit from the back.”

“But I took on the challenge of doing the directorial job while being a producer and an actor because I wanted the challenge of it.

“I wanna see myself how I work under pressure under those hats that I’m wearing at the same time,” lahad pa ni Alden.

Dagdag pa niya, “I can see myself from afar whenever I direct, I’m a different person.”

“Kailangan gawin nating somehow stable sa ating karera in the industry kasi that’s another way of giving back.”

“Ito ‘yung pagma-materialize kasi ng kuwento ng lola ko sa ‘kin nung bata ako because my grandparents are World War 2 babies and we are at a setting of the Japanese occupation dito sa Pilipinas,” lahad pa ni Alden.
